Our social mission is to be a national knowledge hub for marine litter pollution and oil spill preparedness. We aim to help develop technology and spread knowledge about oil spill preparedness and marine litter pollution.

The Norwegian Centre for Oil Spill Preparedness and Marine Environment is located in Svolvær, and is headed by Ann-Helen Ernstsen. In the course of spring 2019, there will be 11 employees at the centre with broad expertise in oil spill preparedness, marine environment and communication. We cooperate with other government agencies, research institutions and NGOs, and we believe cooperation is key to good results, both in Norway and worldwide. We are an important contributor to the national objective of cleaner seas.
